I would like to build a house in Cuenca but I don't really know the going rate for construction and other costs involved. I don't have a huge budget so I'm a little nervous about approaching architects etc. I have found a plot but I don't want to purchase it until I find out if I can afford to build a house.

I know all houses are different but basically I have designed a house which has a total of 120 square meters. I want to build a cabana style house with one floor and a bbq area on the roof, two or three bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms. I am hoping for construction of around 400 USD per square meter. Is it realistic? What other costs should I take into account?
