Rick: From Finance to Directing

Rick’s deep-rooted passion for theater, nurtured from his time in the US, found new life upon his arrival in Cuenca. His transition from writing financial reports to directing productions with ACT shows the transformative power of embracing one’s true passion. Through Rick’s story, we witness the impact that community theater can have on individuals seeking purpose and connection in their lives.

Cody: Acting, Recruiting & Board of Directors

Cody’s infectious enthusiasm for theater was evident from the moment we began our conversation. Her background in professional acting, spanning continents and cultures, has enriched Cuenca’s theater scene. From enthralling performances on stage to leadership behind the scenes, Cody embodies the spirit of creativity and collaboration that helps shape ACT. 

Derek: Lighting Up the Stage

Derek’s background in organizational leadership brought a fresh perspective to the theater’s operations. His role in managing the lighting team and recruiting and training volunteers shows the importance of mentorship and teamwork within ACT. Derek’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for volunteers reflects the core values that define ACT as a community-driven organization.

However, recruiting more young and middle-aged actors is perhaps the area that continues to prove the most difficult – so they are calling on this demographic to get more involved. The groundwork has been laid for the next generation of theater enthusiasts.

Derek: From Chicago Spectator to Cuenca Volunteer

As Derek shares his journey from spectator to valued volunteer within the ACT community, we gain insight into the important role theater plays in introducing individuals to new social circles and fostering meaningful connections.
