Life in Cuenca and working at FUPEC as a volunteer from abroad
As two volunteers from Germany aged 20 and 22 we have already spent 1,5 months living in Cuenca. We work at FUPEC (Familias Unidas por las Enfermedades Catastróficas) which has shown us many different aspects of life here: During our lunch breaks, every now and then we go to nice cafés or restaurants in the city. To get to work, we either take the bus or walk about 40 minutes with a beautiful view of the city. At FUPEC, we are part of a great team consisting of Ecuadorians only - which means we learn a lot about the Ecuadorian lifestyle and mindset 🙂. With our team members we often do things in our spare time, too.
All in all, we are very happy and grateful to be here. Cuenca is a wonderful city with a pretty Old Town, cordial habitants, nice restaurants and cafés, lovely different big and small museums, various street markets and other places to shop, also beautiful parques and rivers. We can highly recommend both: Doing voluntary work at FUPEC, AND living in Cuenca! 🙂
Many greetings and a lovely day,
Alisia and Lea
