The group will meet at idiomART in the morning then travel to Huizhil with local guide, Maria Dolores Saldaña. You will spend the day in an adobe house where you will learn the craft of basket weaving. You will also have a delicious homecooked meal and will also take a short stroll along the property and in the barrio. This is not to be missed!

* This experience is a cultural immersion on many levels and will be in Spanish. Maria speaks a little English and can help clear up some bits, but it will not be translated.

 

Maria Dolores Saldaña is from Cuenca, Ecuador and has a degree in tourism from the University of Azuay. Her company is called Lola, which organizes and promotes fun and exciting touristic experiences in the area. She enjoys sharing both her culture and her family and organizes cultural and touristic activities in the Casa Huizhil, a hacienda in Soldados, as well as activities in the greater Cuenca region. She organizes workshops in basket weaving, agricultural tourism, and accessible tourism for the disabled. In her spare time, she spends her time helping animals on the street.
