idiomART is considered one of the best places to take a workshop in the city of Cuenca. We've earned that reputation through hard work and dedication to providing diverse, quality workshops that meet the interests and needs of the community. We intend to keep on working hard to ensure that the workshops we offer are unique, fun, and top-notch!

In that spirit, here are the workshops we have coming up...

April, 5 (3:00 - 5:00 pm)
CHOCOLATE TASTING WORKSHOP
Back by popular demand, sommelier Melissa Perez-Singer is offering a one-day workshop where you will learn how to begin to taste and identify the nuances and layers of chocolate. You will experience this decadent tasting workshop with sustainably grown and manufactured dark chocolate from Ecuador called Kamm and you will also receive a free glass of wine to take the tasting one step further with a wine/chocolate pairing.
$20

April 11 (2:00 - 4:00 pm)
WATERCOLOR & INK JAPANESE STYLE BOTANICALS
In this workshop, led by artist Emma Wille (Suka), you will experiment with line, form, color, and texture to create unique Japanese-style botanical watercolors, with the aim of connecting to creativity and soothing self-expression.

April 15, 16, 22, 23 (11:00 - 1:00 pm)
CUBAN & CARIBBEAN PERCUSSION WORKSHOP - PERCUTE!

April 18 (2:00 - 4:00 pm)
SAGE BIRDS - Art Doll Workshop
Join Ruth Morris for another exciting art doll workshop. In this class, you will construct a Sage Bird from recycled materials, batik fabrics, and fiber showcasing a one-of-a-kind bird head. The finished doll stands between 9 and 12 inches tall. No sewing required unless you want to add button or bead embellishments.
$25 (materials included)

April 25 (2:00 - 5:00 pm)
PREPARE & RELAX - AN IMPROV STORYTELLING EXPERIMENT
Join professional storyteller, Karla Freeman, for a wonderful workshop where you can come and play with other budding storytellers and refine your ability to tell stories. You will work in pairs and small groups getting comfortable with your story and how to tell it. You can then practice at our Improv Storytelling Night (our monthly event) the following day if you so desire!
$20

May 2 & 3 (2:00 - 4:00 pm)
MANDALA DRAWING WORKSHOP
Join artist, Daniel Williams, for a 2-day mandala drawing workshop where you will learn a set of simplified techniques that create beautiful, intricate, and symmetrical designs. In this workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to hone in on visual and kinetic fundamentals like balance, proportions, and hand-eye coordination. When drawing mandalas, we build an intuitive understanding of spatial rhythm through the repetition of patterns and proportions. The reiterative nature of movement allows artists to overcome creative blockages and reach a higher level of flow and focus. Many of these skills extend into other genres of visual arts, like landscape painting or figure drawing.
$25
