Saturday Salon: The Story of Cuenca Told With Its Architecture
Art historian, Berenice Cárdenas, will explore different churches, houses, monasteries, markets, and squares which contributed to UNESCO making Cuenca a World Heritage site. The idea of modernity and progress in Cuenca, and in Latin America in general, illustrates an interesting reinterpretation of the architecture of the European centers where these styles were originally created. Discover why Cuenca has a variety of architectural styles which sometimes are contradictory to each other due to the globalization that has transformed our urban landscape, especially during the 20th and 21st centuries.
