This month kicks off our Saturday Salon Series with a real treat. Moya Foley, who will travel from the northern coast of Ecuador to Cuenca for the opening of her exhibition “Sticks, Stones and Bones” will regale us with stories of her many adventures as a “bad girl artist in Ecuador!” The salon is Saturday, Oct. 9 @ 10:30am.
Moya will talk about her experience as a Canadian artist living in Ecuador. As a young artist, recently graduated from art school in the 70’s, Moya wanted to move to a place where she wouldn’t be influenced by others artists. She found herself living in a bamboo hut on the beach in Northern Ecuador and hasn’t looked back since! Moya has also written a book about her experiences called, “Lifer: Tales of a Badgirl Artist in Ecuador” and it’s a page turner! Excerpts from her book are going to be published in November in a bilingual collection called “Crónica” that include ten different writers, all long term expats, some living and some dead. Moya will have copies of her book for sale.
There is limited space at the salon and reservations are highly recommended. Contact, [email protected] to reserve your space today!
