Fernando is safe in Cuenca now and waiting for his forever family. He looks like a Lab mix but smaller. He is about two years old and has been sterilized, vaccinated, wormed and received flea meds.He weighs about 13-15 kilos and is a very manageable medium size. He is house trained. He has a nice balance of being relaxed and calm indoors and playful when outdoors with other doggies. He walks well on a leash and seems to be good with young children, dogs, and cats. He chases the cat a bit, mostly out of curiosity.
Fernando lived in a home with his owners for about one year until the family moved away and abandoned him. This is why he started hanging around the market while begging for little scraps of food. He’s been hanging around the market for about one year.
Fernando was rescued from a dire situation at the market in Azogues. There was a mentally-affected man that continued to torture Fernando with a knife. He even threatened to kill Fernando! We organized a small team to help with transportation to Dr. Gallardo’s Clinica in Cuenca. There, Fernando received all the care and treatment he needed. Fernando has been recovering very well in a loving and safe foster home and now he is ready for his own home and family!
