Admin & Marketing Assistant.
You'll be the person who keeps our listings, our clients and our agents moving. Most of what goes wrong in this business goes wrong because something small got dropped. This is the job that stops that happening.
We work the entire market, with a focus on English-speaking buyers, sellers, owners and renters who are moving to Cuenca or already living here. Our founders are bilingual, one Australian and one Ecuadorian. If you speak good English and you're curious about how foreigners buy & rent property here, this job will teach you more in a year than most people learn in five.
What you'll actually do.
Your week moves between six things.
Getting properties online
New listings come in from our agents and from owners, and you get them onto our websites and our social channels with good photos, videos, accurate details and descriptions in both languages.
Answering clients
Calls, emails, WhatsApp. In English and Spanish. You're often the first person a buyer talks to, and how you handle that first message decides whether they stay with us.
Supporting the agents
Onboarding a new listing, booking viewings, chasing the document that’s missing, making sure nothing sits still.
Updating leads
Every client, every property, every conversation lives in Nest, our own software. Your job is making sure what’s in there is updated and matches reality.
Social media and content
Posting to Facebook, Instagram and the local Facebook groups, replying to comments, and building the audience. You'll also make simple graphics and edit video: short listing clips for social, and longer pieces like neighborhood tours and market updates.
Hosting clients in person
We run day trips around Cuenca for buyers exploring the city, and some clients need help with errands, paperwork or introductions. You'll do both.
If you want to sell later.
Some people in this role want to become agents, and that route is open. Once you know the business you train by shadowing Michelle, our Lead Agent, through real client work: listing appointments, viewings, negotiations, closings. Not a classroom. Actual deals, with someone experienced next to you.
But, this is an option, not the plan. If selling isn't what you want, say so and nobody will push you toward it. Marketing, content and client care are where a lot of our best work happens, and getting very good at that is a career, not a stepping stone. Either answer is a good answer in your application. We'd just rather know which one you're giving.
How you get paid.
Your income has several components:
- A fixed monthly base
- A share of the commission on any sale or rental you helped bring to close, paid when the deal completes and YapaTree is paid
- A set rate per client day trip
- An hourly rate for in-person client facilitation
The base is steady. And everything else grows as you do, and as the company does. We'll walk through the exact numbers when we meet.
The schedule.
Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, at the YapaTree office in Cuenca.
Some weekends and holidays you'll need to be reachable by phone, when we have clients in town or something urgent comes up. But, it's a light on-call expectation, not standby.
You'll be given a YapaTree office phone number for the role. All work communication happens on that number, and your personal number stays personal.
What you need.
- Spanish as your first language, and English strong enough to talk to and write to clients without hesitating
- Comfortable with computers: web forms, spreadsheets, a CRM, social platforms, basic video editing. We'll train you on our tools, not on how to use a computer.
- Organized enough that things don’t get dropped, because in this job they will get dropped otherwise
Helps, but not required.
- An Ecuadorian driver’s licence, a car, and insurance
- Any experience in real estate, property management, marketing or customer service. But your can-do attitude matters to us way more than experience.
- Video editing or graphic design you can show us
- You already know Cuenca well: neighborhoods, prices, general day-to-day processes
