On the second day, you will come to idiomART and learn how to make a hard-cover Japanese stab binding book with your handmade paper as well as a soft-cover book using an advanced design, stab binding pattern.

Workshop 3: Papermaking & Advanced Page Design for Hard Bound Books
In this 3-day workshop, you will have the opportunity to take page design to a new level! On the first day of the workshop, you will go to Papel a Mano’s studio and explore various decorating techniques for pages to be included in one of two types of flag books. You will embed objects (string, yarn, cut out shapes, etc.) between two thin sheets of paper and design the size and shape of the pages depending upon which of two very distinct types of flag book you wish to make. On days 2 & 3, you will come to idiomART to construct your flag book(s) using the pages that you designed on day 1. We will supply a number of decorative items for you to use to design you book. You are also encouraged to bring memorabilia of your own that you want to display.
