Join CCC Spanish for another incredible Cultural Road Trip! This month we will take you to an enchanting place not too far from Cuenca… the Museo de la Gastronomía in Challaubamba!
The museum is a large family home surrounded by nature, trees, plants, hummingbirds, butterflies, and the weather is a bit warmer too. It is an interactive and informative museum where you not only learn about the history of the culinary wonders of the Andes and Cuenca, but you also get to participate in making some of the treats as well as taste them. Learn how they ground the grains to make tortillas, quimbolitos, tamales…learn the secrets to making local ají…learn how to cook on an adobe, open fire stove…learn this and more with the opportunity to participate as well!
We will also take a nostalgic journey to the childhood of the past. Outside is a traditional playground where you can watch or play with el trompo (wooden tops), hopscotch, the traditional palo ensebado and many other games. Let your inner child out to play! To finish the tour, relax to the sound of the fountain on their outdoor patio where we will have a delicious meal (vegetarian option available).
This cultural road trip is a sensorial and nostalgic journey through history where you can see, touch, taste, and take an active part in learning about the local culture’s past.
