Experience the rich culture of the Cañar Province where ancient practices are still a part of the culture today. You will experience and learn about this vibrant, living history while taking in the sites and sounds of the countryside.
To start off the trip, you will travel to the town of Biblián where you will enjoy a scenic train ride through the tunnels and mountains of Andes, followed by a visit to the “Bibilak” hat factory where you will learn the behind-the-scenes of hat-making.
Afterward, you will travel to Ingapirca, which is the most complete archaeological ruins in the country and one of the only known temples that is a mixture of local Cañari and Inca architecture. Next, you will travel to the lesser-known “Baño del Inca” at the Coyoctor ruins in Tambo where you will learn about the ancient water channel system where they would perform purification rituals with the water from the sacred mountains.
You will get to taste traditional foods and a delicious lunch is included as well. There will be a vegetarian option too!
