Cuenca Joins The Global Movement That Highlights The Malbec Strain

April 17 officially marked the “World Malbec Day” or “Malbec World Day”, a global initiative that positions the Argentinean Malbec around the world and celebrates the trajectory of the wine industry.

Malbec plantations, a variety of purple grape used to make wine, are found all over the world.

In Cuenca, the Eljuri Group maintains the international campaign “Malbec” and is celebrating all month with different activities.

Last Thursday night, under the coordination of the Winery  and Taberna Liqour Stores, a conference was held on wine culture, costs, and other topics.   There were also guided tastings by wine connoisseurs, who not only talked about the Malbec strain, origins and projections but, in general, the presence of wine in Ecuador.

At Winery, a wine shop open for three and a half years on Avenida Solano and Aurelio Aguilar, its marketing manager, José Andrés Moscoso, welcomed the crowd to the store, “Winery seeks to generate a very particular shopping experience for consumers, not only do we sell here, but we also show the variety of wines in the world.”

The special guest for the tasting was the brand “Finca Las Moras”, an Argentine wine red  in color, with fruity aromas of cherries and ripe plums … soft and delicate texture, very refreshing, although it is a very young wine, it is still full of Body, “assessed the  Jhonny Morocho, a customer advisor, wine taster and scholar.

José Andrés Moscoso explained that people’s interest in wine culture is increasing,  and wine is no longer only seen as an alcoholic beverage,  but now includes a process of elaboration, reservation and brand.

Enjoy a free tasting  of Malbec this Thursday, the 20th, at the Winery on Solano from 6-9pm.
